Cannibisters: A Hub for Quality, Community and Connection

In the heart of Cape Town, nestled in a stylish setting, is where you’ll find Cannibisters—a cannabis club that feels as much like a home as a haven for cannabis enthusiasts. Founded by Pierre Sarembock, this space is unlike traditional dispensaries; it’s part herb apothecary, part Chinese medicine practice, and part community hub. Pierre’s vision was to create a warm, welcoming environment where people could come not only to buy cannabis, but to relax, connect, and truly feel at home.

Pierre explains that Cannibisters was born from his desire to give cannabis enthusiasts a safe, uplifting environment. “I wanted to have a forum, a place where people feel comfortable, somewhere they can come in and enjoy our ‘flowers’ without the atmosphere of a dispensary,” he shares. It’s a place with a “lounge vibe” where guests can work, unwind, or even host events. For Pierre, it’s a dream come true—a realisation of his long-standing vision for a cannabis club that emphasises quality, comfort, and connection.

A World-Class Vision Rooted in Experience

Pierre’s journey to Cannibisters was anything but ordinary. Inspired by his experiences at cannabis shops around the globe—from Amsterdam to Barcelona—he sought to bring a world-class approach to Cape Town’s cannabis scene. He recalls his first time in Amsterdam’s iconic Bulldog Café, where he felt an initial disappointment that fueled his vision to create a better experience back home. “I always dreamed of having my own shop,” he reflects,” and only offering top-notch bud that’s grown organically, with love, and meets high standards.”

This focus on quality is central to Pierre’s ethos. He insists on a standard that balances potency and purity, emphasising the importance of organically grown cannabis over the more common, chemically produced indoor strains. “Less is more,” he believes, drawing from his four decades as a cannabis user. For Pierre, cannabis is best when it’s flavourful, wholesome, and doesn’t just chase high THC levels. “It’s not about being 30% THC; it’s about offering something lasting and enjoyable, grown the right way.”

A Home for All: A Medicinal Wonderland

Cannibisters offers an unmatched selection of strains—85 at minimum, broken down into sativas, indicas, and hybrids, as well as hashes, oils, and over thirty different edibles. Each product is meticulously curated to meet the unique preferences and needs of the club’s clients. Pierre affectionately describes Cannibisters as “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for cannabis,” where each visit feels like stepping into a wonderland of choice, with every item crafted to elevate the cannabis experience.

At Cannibisters, it’s not just about selling cannabis, but about connecting people with medicine that truly fits their lifestyle and health needs. Pierre himself is no stranger to challenges; his experience with ADHD and OCD has made him keenly aware of the need for personalised options. His mission is to offer a holistic and medicinal approach where clients can access products that are thoughtfully categorised and presented in ways that reflect their intended effects.

Building Community, One Visit at a Time

Cannibisters is more than just a shop—it’s a community hub. Its blend of carefully selected products and a warm, welcoming environment makes it a rare kind of sanctuary for cannabis lovers. Pierre’s pride in Cannibisters goes beyond its impressive inventory. “We’re a home for people,” he says, his tone heartfelt. “A place to work, a place to party, a place to just be.”

In creating Cannibisters, Pierre has brought his unique vision to life—a place that challenges the typical cannabis club model and focuses on what matters most: quality, connection, and care. For Pierre and his members, Cannibisters is a dream made real, a space to be free, be well, and, most importantly, be at home.
