Got News From Your Authenticated Store?

Rolling Stoner Wants to Hear It

Writer and Media Officer: Andrew Macfarlane

Running a cannabis business or store is already a full-time job.

There are customers to look after, stock to manage, events to organise and about seventeen other things demanding your attention before lunch.

So, when Rolling Stoner asked our Authenticated Stores to send us their news, we know what you might be thinking:

Sounds great. When exactly am I supposed to write a press release?

Good news. You don’t necessarily have to.

Your Store Has Stories Worth Sharing

Rolling Stoner Authenticated Stores are spread across South Africa, and trust us, we know that every one of them has something different happening behind the counter.

What could be deemed newsworthy?

  • Maybe you’ve launched a new space.
  • Perhaps there’s an event coming up.
  • Introduced a new service,
  • Collaborated with a local brand,
  • Supporting a community project,
  • Expanded your store,
  • Or simply done something genuinely interesting that people should know about.

That is news.

And we’d like to help you share it.

You Bring the News. We Can Help With the Words.

You don’t need a perfectly polished press release sitting in your drafts folder.

If you have the time and enjoy writing, send us the full story.

If you don’t, send us the bones.

These bones can be:

  • A few notes or voice notes,
  • A collection of facts around the story,
  • Some photographs,
  • Perhaps some quotes from the people involved,
  • Or even a rough explanation of what happened and why it matters.

We can help turn that information into something people will actually want to read.

That might mean cleaning up an existing release, helping shape the story, or working with the information you provide to build it into an editorial piece suitable for Rolling Stoner’s readers.

Also, let’s make something clear: the interesting part isn’t whether you know how to write a press release. It’s all about what your store is doing.

You Don't Need a PR Department

This is probably the most important part.

Please don’t decide against sending us something because nobody in the business has time to sit down and write 800 beautifully constructed words.

We’re writers.

That’s quite literally what we’re here for.

Give us enough information to understand the story and, where appropriate, we can help work it into something publishable.

A good starting point is simply:

  • What happened?
  • Where did it happen?
  • When did it happen?
  • Who was involved?
  • Why should somebody care?

Add a few decent photographs, and you’re already most of the way there.

Let's Talk More About South African Cannabis Stories

There are hundreds of cannabis businesses operating around South Africa, but some of the most interesting things happening inside them never travel much further than an Instagram Story, WhatsApp group, or conversation across the counter.

We’d like to change that.

If you’re part of the Rolling Stoner Authenticated Store community and you’ve got something happening, tell us about it.

Big story. Small story. Strange story.

Send Rolling Stoner Your News.

We’ll see what we can do with it.
